KUNMING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) — Southwest China’s Yunnan Province plans
to build itself into a national clean-energy base, local authorities
said Wednesday.
By 2025, the province’s installed electricity capacity is expected to
reach 130 million kilowatts, with green power accounting for more than
86 percent of the total, Zhou Minxin, deputy director of the provincial
development and reform commission, told a press briefing.
Yunnan will push forward the construction of mega hydropower projects
like Wudongde, Baihetan, and Tuoba on the Jinsha and Lancang rivers,
Zhou said.
The province will also speed up construction of a wind power project
providing 8 million kilowatts of energy and a photovoltaic power project
providing 3 million kilowatts of energy, Zhou noted. Enditem
