50 Kazakh companies to be trained to promote products on Alibaba: trade official

Abstract : A total of 50 Kazakh companies will have been trained by the end of this year to get registered and promote their products on Alibaba.com, a B2B platform owned by China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, a senior Kazakh trade official has said.

NUR-SULTAN, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) — A total of 50 Kazakh companies will have been trained by the end of this year to get registered and promote their products on Alibaba.com, a B2B platform owned by China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, a senior Kazakh trade official has said.

According to Nurlan Kulbatyrov, deputy director general of Kazakhstan’s QazTrade Center for trade policy development, the Ministry of Trade and Integration and QazTrade last year launched a new service support tool to bring Kazakh entrepreneurs and exporters to international trading platforms, including Alibaba.

So far, more than 200 Kazakh companies have registered on Alibaba and another 50 companies will follow suit by the end of 2020, Kulbatyrov told Xinhua on Monday.

The official said they have a specially created working group to “select companies on a competitive basis” and will provide training courses to help companies develop mini-sites, target their products and promote online marketing.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alibaba.com, which has tens of millions of visitors per day, works as an online exhibition, he said, adding that “we see great interest towards our products not only from Chinese buyers but across the world on the platform.”

The pandemic has accelerated the development of e-commerce in Kazakhstan, he said. In the first half of 2020, the country’s e-commerce volume amounted to 1.1 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 9.4 percent of total retail trade, while online trade volume and payment transactions in the country have increased by more than 2.5 times since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March, Kulbatyrov added.
