China UnionPay sees more payments during Dragon Boat Festival holiday

Abstract : Chinese card payment giant China UnionPay saw increased payments during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday that ended Saturday, the national bank card association said Sunday.

BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) — Chinese card payment giant China UnionPay saw increased payments during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday that ended Saturday, the national bank card association said Sunday.

Payments over the China UnionPay network reached 952.1 billion yuan (about 135 billion U.S. dollars), up 3.6 percent compared with the holiday last year.

China UnionPay is the country’s largest bank card payment processor, and UnionPay cards are accepted in more than 170 countries and regions around the world.

Transactions over its network reached 189.4 trillion yuan in 2019, up 54.3 percent year on year. Enditem

Abstract : China's foreign exchange regulator on Wednesday night expanded quotas under an outbound investment scheme to meet the growing demand of domestic investors. BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) — China’s foreign exchange regulator on Wednesday night expanded quotas under an outbound investment scheme to meet the growing demand of domestic investors. A total of 10.3 billion U.S. dollars in quotas was granted to 17 institutions under the Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (QDII) program, a scheme for outbound investment , according to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE). Among these institutions were fund companies, securities firms and insurers, as well as banks, said the regulator. The move brought China’s total QDII quota to 147.32 billion U.S. dollars.
